There is an initial assessment that takes place so we can build rapport and find out what is working and what is not working for you. We begin in the room that is most bothersome to the client. We start the sorting and purging process. We create zones so we can store things at point of use. Being organized is all about function – giving you easy access to your things.
There are many reasons – some have many interests and do not know where to put all the things they’ve accumulated. There are some who have a challenge with ADD and have a difficult time staying organized. Sometimes it’s just bad habits, and others simply live in a very small space and there is not enough room for their things. Disorganization can happen even to organized people, such as when there is a life changing event, when too much life happens at once. When depression hits, they shut down.
It totally depends on what you want done and the extent of the disorganization. For example, it can take 8 hours to organize a bedroom, or it can take 16 hours if the clutter is deep and extremely crammed closets.
